As released by the studio and reported by Rotten Tomatoes, the film's basic pitch runs: "The Fantastic Four, a contemporary reimagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centres on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."
It appears to be a new take on the origin story for the heroes – here in the shape of Miles Teller (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara (Sue Storm/Invisible Girl), Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch) and Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm/The Thing) – as they traditionally got their various abilities from exposure to strange space radiation. And this is much more in line with Marvel's Ultimate Fantastic Four take on the characters. We'll find out how closely in line soon enough, as well as learning how much Trank and his team have altered Dr. Doom, played by Toby Kebbell (War Horse), who recently let slip that his character's origin has also been tweaked.
The Fantastic Four is out here on 6 August 2015.
