Orlando Bloom set for Unlocked

With Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) already in place, Michael Apted (Chasing Mavericks) is building the rest of the cast for his new CIA thriller Unlocked. As the backers offer the rights to the film at the Toronto Film Festival, word arrives that Orlando Bloom (The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug) and Michael Douglas (Haywire) have signed on.

Rapace is starring as a CIA interrogator who unwittingly gives information to terrorists planning to launch a massive biological attack on London. Once she learns what is happening, she scrambles to stop the plan before it can be put into motion.

Nothing is known yet about Bloom or Douglas' characters, though there is some part of us that would like to see Bloom playing a villain – and not like his camped up role in The Three Musketeers (2011) either. Apted will start the cameras rolling in November, with Peter O'Brien providing the script.

Bloom will soon be back as Legolas in The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, due on 12 December. He's also recently worked on Joe Swanberg's (V/H/S) new drama Digging For Fire alongside Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) and Jake Johnson (21 Jump Street). Douglas is currently at work on Marvel's Ant-Man, and he was recently at the Toronto Film Festival to promote desert-set thriller The Reach.
