Matt Smith set for Pride And Prejudice And Zombies

Since leaving Doctor Who, Matt Smith has been busy adding film roles to his CV, including Ryan Gosling's (Drive) directorial debut Lost River, and a mysterious part in Alan Taylor's (Thor: The Dark World) Terminator: Genisys. He's travelling back in time – something in which he is clearly well versed – for his next gig, playing Mr. Collins in Burr Steers' (Charlie St. Cloud) Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.

The genre mash up, drawn from Seth Grahame-Smith's book injecting zombie madness into Jane Austen's classic tale of manners and moods, has been casting up quickly of late. Lily James (Fast Girls) is our heroine, Elizabeth Bennett, who juggles family expectations and a burgeoning, unexpected romance with Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley) and fighting off legions of the "sorry stricken", also known as the undead.

Smith's Collins is, largely, in keeping with the original, a parson on the hunt for a wife who proposes to Elizabeth. Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Douglas Booth (Noah) and Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows) are also all aboard the film. Steers, who has also worked on the script, started cameras rolling this week.

As for Smith, there's no sign of a UK release date for Lost River yet, but we can expect Terminator: Genisys on 26 June next year.
