Julie Engelbrecht joins The Last Witch Hunter

With Vin Diesel (Riddick), Michael Caine (Harry Brown) and Rose Leslie (Game Of Thrones) aboard, Breck Eisner's (The Crazies) the Last Witch Hunter already has something of an international flavour to its cast. News now arrives via Deadline that German actress Julie Engelbrecht (The Red Baron) has also joined.

The actress, cast following a global search, is set to play the Witch Queen, a nasty villain planning to unleash terrible evil upon mankind. Diesel plays the titular semi-immortal witch hunter who catches up with his nemesis in present-day New York as she gathers the city's covens to cook up her diabolical plan.

Except he's not going to be alone, as he'll forge an unlikely alliance with Leslie's beguiling witch.

The rest of the Witch Hunter cast includes Elijah Wood (Maniac) and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty), with Breck Eisner preparing to call the shots from a script that began life with a Cory Goodman (Priest) pitch that was subsequently re-written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. And that's following work by D.W. Harper and Melisa Wallack (Dallas Buyers Club)...

Pre-production is already underway but there is no release date as yet.
