Gary Oldman set for Man Down

Variety announced last week that Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises), Shia LaBeouf (Lawless) and Kate Mara (Transcendence) have joined the cast of psychological thriller, Man Down.

A Guide To Recognising Your Saints' (2006) Dito Montiel is set to kick off shooting the film next month in New Orleans, using a script by Adam Simon (The Haunting In Connecticut). Man Down is set in a post-apocalyptic US and focuses on a haunted Afghanistan war veteran searching for his family.

Oldman, who was last seen battling intelligent simians in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, will next be part of Russia-set thriller Child 44, opposite Tom Hardy (Inception) and Noomi Rapace (Prometheus). LaBeouf, who also appeared in Montiel's aforementioned Saints, was among the sprawling Nymphomaniac (2013) cast and well next be part of Brad Pitt's (Inglourious Basterds) tank crew in World War II action thriller Fury, due out on 24 October. As for Mara, she cropped in Transcendence earlier this year and has hostage drama Captive plus comic book adaptation The Fantastic Four on the horizon, with the new take on the Marvel characters arriving on 18 June next year.
