"Think of our newscast as a screaming woman, running down the street, with her throat cut"

Open Road Films have just released their latest trailer for Dan Gilroy's directorial debut Nightcrawler.

With Real Steel (2011) and The Bourne Legacy (2012) writer Dan Gilroy turning director for this one, Jake Gyllenhaal (Prisoners) plays Lou Bloom, a young man in desperate need of employment. After several rejections, he stumbles upon the fast paced dark world of Los Angeles freelance crime journalism.

Setting himself up as an independent contractor, he's soon cranking up the police scanner and speeding around the seedy streets to beat the cops and other reporters to crime scenes. After a few lucky breaks, he catches the eye of TV newsgathering veteran Nina (Rene Russo), who spots a potential new source of content. But soon Lou is blurring the line between reporting the story and becoming it...

With Bill Paxton (Edge Of Tomorrow), Riz Ahmed (Ill Manors), Ann Cusack (Stigmata), Kevin Rahm (Alfie) and Michael Hyatt (Like Crazy) among the cast, Nightcrawler prowls the Toronto Film Festival next month before heading to the UK on 17 October and the States just in time for Halloween on 31 October.
