There are many creepy myths surrounding the various curses that may befell several explorers who dared enter the burial tombs of Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. But that doesn't seem to deter those who think they're doing archaeology or history a favour by unsealing pyramids and exploring within. And that is exactly where the team in The Pyramid gets into trouble.
Denis O'Hare (Dallas Buyers Club) is Holden, leader of a team of archaeologists daring to delve deep within a new, three-sided pyramid discovered beneath the Egyptian desert. Naturally, he has heard the tales of disappearances and mysterious deaths, but decides to venture with his assorted tomb raiders anyway. The team soon discovers just how big the pyramid is – as they continue to unlock the horrific secrets buried within, they realise they aren't just trapped, they are being hunted. The ancient monolith, it would appear, was constructed to keep something within its stone walls.
Regular Alexandre Aja writer Grégory Levasseur (The Hills Have Eyes) steps up to call the shots this time, with Aja providing backing as executive producer. The script comes from Daniel Meersand and Nick Simon (The Removal), while Ashley Hinshaw (About Cherry), James Buckley (The Inbetweeners), Amir K (Argo) and Christa-Marie Nicola (Home And Away) fill out the main cast.
The Pyramid is set for release on 5 December.
