Star Wars: Episode VII adds Christina Chong

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have recently announced another addition to J.J. Abrams already well stocked Star Wars: Episode VII ensemble in the shape of Christina Chong (W.E.).

Production is already well under way on Star Wars: Episode VII, with the cast and crew scheduled to take a break next month to fine tune their plans around Harrison Ford's leg injury. But there's apparently still space in that galaxy far, far away for yet more fresh faces, and according to Latino Review, Christina Chong will be among them.

Chong, who was most recently seen in 24: Live Another Day, has joined the cast, though we don't – in true J.J. Abrams style – know exactly who she will be playing yet, or indeed whether she'll be on the light or dark side of the Force (or somewhere in between for that matter – there's always room for subtlety).

She's just the latest new recruit, with her casting ferreted mere weeks after it was announced that Pip Anderson and Crystal Clarke had made it through the huge open auditions held at the end of last year.

These latest additions will join Star Wars veterans Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and new saga arrivals John Boyega (Attack The Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years A Slave), Gwendoline Christie (Game Of Thrones) and Max von Sydow (Shutter Island).

Star Wars: Episode VII – which has already shot in Abu Dhabi and is currently in production at London's Pinewood studios – remains on track to arrive on 18 December 2015.
