First trailer for The Skeleton Twins arrives online

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have just released their first trailer for Craig Johnson's (True Adolescents) The Skeleton Twins.

While both Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader have tried their hand at more serious work in the past, and have shared cinema screen time, the former Saturday Night Live colleagues haven't been together in anything like The Skeleton Twins before.
The story follows Maggie (Wiig) and Milo (Hader), twin siblings who have been estranged for a decade. But when they both cheat death on the same day – Milo by surviving a suicide attempt – they decide that the time has come to reunite.

Milo moves in with Maggie and her husband Lance (Luke Wilson) just as the couple are trying for a child, but all is not quite right in their marriage. Still, the twins realise that their main issues are with each other, and set about rebuilding their relationship even as both deal with personal baggage.

From the looks of this, director Craig Johnson and co-writer Mark Heyman (Black Swan) have pitched the tone in comedic drama, drawing on the improvisational skills of their stars. The film arrives in the US on 19 September, but is still listed simply as 2014 for a UK release.
