The 300 (2006) director tweeted the picture of Israeli actress Gal Gadot as the superhero to his 196,000 plus followers while at San Diego Comic Con at the weekend.
The image shows a leather-clad Gadot in thigh high boots brandishing a sword in the midst of a volcano spewing ash. Gadot's costume is certainly a departure from the recognisable red, white, blue and gold outfit that Wonder Woman is best known for. Our guess is that this particular ensemble is all part of the characters Amazonian origin story as Princess Diana of Themyscira.
Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, of course, picks up the story amid the fallout from Man Of Steel (2013) as the likes of Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) figure out how to exploit paranoia about Earth's newly discovered alien adopted son, while Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) is also interested in his motives.
The film will feature returning Man Of Steel cast members Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, with Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) aboard as Wonder Woman alongside Jeremy Irons (Beautiful Creatures), Holly Hunter (Paradise), Diane Lane (Secretariat), Jason Momoa (Conan The Barbarian), Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine), Callan Mulvey (Zero Dark Thirty) and Scoot McNairy (Argo). Zack Snyder (300) is busy cranking the cameras now, with the film set for a UK release on 29 April 2016.
