We've suspected this was coming for some time, especially since Snyder's current assignment – which Warners Bros president of worldwide production Greg Silverman labels Superman Vs. Batman though no official title has been announced – is already loaded with Justice League DC heroes. Still, perhaps the confirmation that an official Justice League film is coming after Superman Vs. Batman can lay to rest concerns that this next film might be a Justice League outing in disguise.
With Superman (Henry Cavill) now joined by Ben Affleck's (Runner Runner) Batman, Gal Gadot's (Fast & Furious 6) Wonder Woman and a host of other characters (including Lex Luthor, played in the new film by Jesse Eisenberg, and the recently announced Cyborg, played by Ray Fisher), the Man Of Steel (2013) sequel is certainly setting the scene for DC Comics' big team-up outing.
Warner Bros has been trying to get the Justice League off the ground for ages on film, and the pressure to make it happen has only been increased by Marvel's success with The Avengers (2012) and other heroes. There is also some suggestion in the article that the Justice League work may finally give Wonder Woman her long cherished shot at a solo film.
While Justice League is in development, there is yet no word on when it might come out. Given Snyder's busy schedule with the current superhero film, we wouldn't expect it before 2018 at the earliest, unless off course he's pulling together a sneaky back-to-back production.
Superman Vs. Batman, assuming it ends up with that title, will hit our screens on 6 May 2016.
