Shooting begins on Star Wars: Episode VII

There comes a point where you stop waiting for every piecemeal casting story about a film and start wishing the producers would just go ahead and announce who they do have to put us all out of our speculative misery. Sadly, Walt Disney Pictures boss Alan Horn showed no sign of doing that when he was recently interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter, he did however reveal that Star Wars: Episode VII is already shooting.

Despite an official press release last month locking down the film's setting as 30 years after Return Of The Jedi and announcing that production would kick off in May, Horn revealed that director J.J. Abrams and co-writer Lawrence Kasdan have got the screenplay to the point where everyone is happy with it and that shooting has already begun.

As for the actors? "We have a lot of them", he said about the main cast. "We're just not completely done yet."

Whatever happens in the audition room, and whoever ends up sharing the screen with R2-D2, the film itself is set for release on 18 December 2015.
