New one sheet and red band trailer for Sex Tape arrives online

Columbia Pictures (Sony) have just released their latest one sheet and red band trailer for Jake Kasden's (Bad Teacher) Sex Tape, starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel as a hapless couple who find a night of intimacy, documented purely for their own amusement, has gone viral (in the internet sense at least).

As far as red band trailers go, this is a bit on the mild side, with nothing more shocking than some semi-nudity and a couple of f-bombs. The main surprise here is how Apple-centric the film has turned out to be, with much talk of iPads and The Cloud. At least it doesn't seem quite as in thrall to its sponsor as the Google happy The Internship (2013). We particularly laughed at Segel's assertion that The Cloud is something that "no one fucking understands".

Segel and Diaz play Jay and Annie, a couple who enjoyed an intense connection when they first got together, but are losing the flame for their passion after ten years of marriage and two kids.

In an attempt to inject a little passion and danger into their relationship, they decide to pack the children off to a friends house and make a video of themselves as they try out every position in The Joy Of Sex during one marathon, three hour session. Of course, when they learn that the video has somehow escaped into the wider world, and they're just one click away from being exposed (literally) to everyone they know, they race to reclaim their footage – and end up learning some hard truths in the process.

Joining Diaz and Segel in Sex Tape's excellent cast are Rob Corddry (Warm Bodies), Jack Black (Bernie), somewhat ironically Rob Lowe (The Invention Of Lying) and Ellie Kemper (Bridesmaids). As well as Bad Teacher (2011), director Kasdan previously made Zero Effect (1998) and Walk Hard (2007), so he certainly has the pedigree.

Sex Tape is currently in post-production and will be out in the UK on 5 September.
